Cenote Manatee
Cenote Diving · Tulum
Casa Cenote is unlike any other cenote in the Yucatan — and that is saying something in a region filled with extraordinary dive sites. Rather than the typical underground cavern or deep sinkhole, Casa Cenote is an open-air river cenote that winds through a corridor of towering mangrove trees, their roots plunging into water so clear you can see every grain of sand on the bottom. Located just north of Tulum on the Caribbean coast, it sits at the point where the underground river system meets the sea, creating a unique environment where fresh and salt water mix and marine life from both worlds coexists.
Diving or snorkeling Casa Cenote feels like exploring a flooded jungle. Sunlight streams through the mangrove canopy above, casting dancing patterns across the sandy bottom. The channel varies from 2 to 7 meters deep, making it accessible to absolutely everyone from complete beginners to experienced divers. As you glide along the channel, you will encounter sea turtles, tropical fish, baby barracuda, and occasionally even small crocodiles resting in the shallows — a safe distance away and completely uninterested in divers.
What makes Casa Cenote truly special for visitors is its proximity to the ocean. Cross the coastal road and you reach the beach, where you can snorkel over the nearshore reef and see an entirely different ecosystem in the same trip. This combination of cenote and ocean snorkeling in a single visit is unique to Casa Cenote and makes it an exceptional value for snorkeling tours.
The site also features a wooden dock perfect for entry, picnic tables under the shade of the mangroves, and an overall atmosphere that feels both wild and welcoming. Casa Cenote is one of our top recommendations for first-time cenote visitors, Discover Scuba participants, and anyone who wants to experience the magic of cenote diving in a relaxed, open-air environment with abundant wildlife.
